South Canmore, Lion's Park and Larch

South Canmore is located between Main Street and the Bow River in the valley bottom. The area is a mixture of fourplex, duplex and single-family homes with the homes becoming less dense as you go south towards the river. This community is popular as it is within walking distance to the majority of Canmore’s amenities including Main Street, cafes, restaurants, Elevation Place and the grocery stores. There is a walking trail along the Bow River that leads you throughout Canmore and up to the Canmore Nordic Centre. The area has good vehicle access to the Trans-Canada and ample parking. In the heart of South Canmore are Lawrence Grassi Middle School, the Roundhouse Canmore Community Daycare / Pre-School and Centennial Park. The Park is home to Canada Day events, the Highland Games, the Canmore Folks Festival and other events throughout the year. Mature trees throughout the community bring birds and other wildlife to the area including the occasional heard of Elk.

 

Lion’s Parks is a community of primarily single-family homes north and west of downtown. Bordered by the Bow River with Spring Creek forming the eastern edge, the community was originally developed in the late 1960s. The name comes from the large park with a soccer field, tennis courts, playground and forest at Lion’s Park. The area is redeveloping as people look for a lower-density neighbourhood within walking distance of Main Street and the commercial area of the Town Centre.

 

Larch is a series of cul-de-sacs extending westward from the High School and bordered by the Canmore Golf and Curling Club and the Bow River / Larch Islands. The homes are single-family properties with treed lots and great views.
